Charles A. Wiatt Sr., 74, 1015 E. Main St., retired employee of International Harvester at Indianapolis and Cities Service here, died Friday afternoon in Culver Hospital. Mr. Wiatt was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church. He was a Putnam County native, born Sept. 28, 1896, a son of Edward and Julia Slavens Wiatt. He was married May 4, 1920, at Dunnington, Ind., to Lillian E. Metzinger. Surviving are the widow; a son, Charles A. "Babe" Wiatt Jr. of Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. James (Margean) Simmons, Mrs. Robert (Bette) Bell and Mrs. Carl (Carolyn) Morris, all of Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Olivia Neier of Lake Wales, Fla.; a brother, Walter of New Castle, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Wiatt; two brothers, and a sister. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry F. Ward officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may pay respects after 2 p.m. Sunday at Bright & Burkhardt Funeral Home where the Rosary will be read at 8 p.m. Sunday. - jlr
